The Gordon Research Conference on 'Molecular and Cellular Neurobiology' was held at HKUST from 6-11 June. Speakers included Prof William Newsome, Stanford University School of Medicine, and Prof H Robert Horvitz, MIT, the 2002 Nobel Laureate in Physiology or Medicine.
   
HKUST's College of Lifelong Learning (CL3) opened its first downtown Learning Center in Admiralty. The accessibility of the Center will enable CL3 to expand its programs for working professionals in the community.
       
A delegation led by Shenzhen Mayor Mr Li Hongzhong visited campus. The visit saw an agreement signed between HKUST and the Shenzhen Municipal Government on enhancing collaboration in technology development and nurturing senior professionals. Some 165 high school students from Shenzhen and their parents also toured campus to learn about studying and life at HKUST.
   
A signing ceremony was held for the establishment of the Zhejiang Advanced Manufacturing Institute (ZJAMI) of HKUST in Hangzhou. This is the first collaborative research institute established between Zhejiang and a university from Hong Kong.
