The battle against SARS marked 2002-03 as an extraordinary
year for both the Hong Kong community and HKUST. The outbreak, at its
height between March and May and drawing world-wide concern, called on
the resources of all in Hong Kong to work together to halt the spread
of this new and deadly disease. Efforts involved sharing expertise in
the race to identify the cause, effect and treatment for SARS, being responsible
with regard to hygiene and cleanliness, and supporting both medical staff
and SARS patients in their fight to overcome the viral assailant.
It was an unprecedented challenge but one which showed
the strength and commitment of Hong Kong people when called to the test.
The following records the contribution made by the members of HKUST in
different ways.
