Pulse of the region

The first phase of the Nansha Information Technology
Park was launched in December 2002, marking the start of an exciting program
to build cross-border ties in technology and industry between Hong Kong
and the Pearl River Delta.
The Park, a joint development between HKUST, the Fok
Ying Tung Foundation and the Guangzhou government, is intended to boost
development in fields including electronic packaging, micro-systems,
biomedical devices, and logistics and supply chain management. HKUST
is providing
the concept, design, project management, training and development.
In its first phase, the Park has facilities for professional
training, research, development and entrepreneurship incubation and has
already become home to several companies from Hong Kong, Taiwan and the
US. Full completion is planned for 2008 when the Park will spread over
250 hectares and include living space for 10,000 hi-tech professionals
and their families in landscaped Chinese gardens.
