A Voice for Hong Kong
Off campus, HKUST provided the impetus for a significant contribution
to the debate over Hong Kong's economic and social direction with three
highly successful forums, the last of which was held in July 2002. The
forums brought together leading thinkers and initiators from key sectors
of the community to discuss ways to take Hong Kong forward. The HKUST
Forum on the Future Development of Hong Kong report, providing a summary
of issues, recommendations, and expressing HKUST's willingness to be involved
in implementing change, was sent to the Government in September 2002.
Fostering further community development, 94 new members were recruited
to the Beta Gamma Sigma HKUST Chapter, which honors academic achievement
and encourages moral leadership and good practice in business.
