Extra-Curricular
Activities
At HKUST, all-round education is stressed. The University
encourages its students to make the best use of their leisure
time and participate in various extra-curricular activities.
The success of this effort is demonstrated by the exceptional
performance of HKUST students in a variety of competitions
and events. Here are some examples:
- Postgraduate student Dorothy TSE of the Humanities Division
received the top prizes in fiction and literary essay at
Hong Kong's first "University Literary Award".
- The University's Kendo Club won the championship at the
Joint University Kendo Competition. In the Second HKUST

HKUST students are not only outstanding contestants but also
competent organizers of extra-curricular activities. Members
of the student sports clubs demonstrated their leadership
potential by organizing a total of 13 inter-collegiate competitions
at local and international levels.
