Court
Three prominent community leaders joined the Court during the
year under review: Mr Kenneth H FANG, Ms Kai-Yin LO, and Dr
Larry C K YUNG. Mr Philip Chen and Mr Tim Lui became ex-officio
members of the Court in their respective capacities as Council
Vice-Chairman and Treasurer of the University. Another new member
to the Court was the incoming President of the HKUST Students'
Union, Mr Kaxton Yu Kwan SIU. Dr the Hon CHA Chi Ming, Mr Payson
M CHA, Prof K C CHAN, Dr the Hon Rosanna WONG, and Dr Sally
AW Sian left the Court during the year.
The Court held its Sixth Annual Meeting on 10 November 2000.
In the meeting, Council Chairman Dr Vincent H S LO reported
on the following topics: The Mission, Vision, and Objectives
Statement of HKUST, succession of President, and the 10th
anniversary celebrations. Founding President Prof Chia-Wei
Woo also reported on the development of the University strategies
for lifelong learning and e-education, as well as the plans
in progress for the Shenzhen PKU-HKUST Medical Center.
