At the 4 March Business Roundtable Dinner, Prof Che Ting Chan of the Department of Physics shared with Hong Kong business, government and diplomatic corps leaders some of the exciting discoveries in nanotechnology and their potential applications. The Dinner was hosted by Dr Helmut Sohmen, University Court member.
Over 120 technology, business, government and academic leaders from 10 major world economies joined the "International Symposium on Economic Development through Commercialization of Science and Technology", to share their experience in promoting technology-driven growth.

51 senior executives of global companies such as Hewlett-Packard and Citibank received their Master of Business Administration degrees at the Fourth Graduation Ceremony of the Kellogg-HKUST EMBA program on 14 April. Northwestern University's Kellogg School of Management was ranked No. 1 for its EMBA program by Business Week in 2001.
HKUST hosted the Donors' Reception on 18 April to express thanks to the many individuals and organizations that have donated scholarships and other contributions to the University.
After three years of study, the Pearl River Estuary Pollution Project (PREPP) presented its findings at the Symposium on Estuary Research, hosted by HKUST from 23 to 25 April. Conducted by HKUST researchers in collaboration with institutions in the Chinese Mainland, PREPP is by far the most comprehensive cross-boundary study on the Pearl River Estuary.
