The Department of Chemical Engineering hosted the 17th International Symposium on Chemical Reaction Engineering (ISCRE) at the Hong Kong Exhibition and Convention Centre from 25-28 August, the first time the prestigious conference had been held in Asia.

 

 
  HKUST's first Junior Math Camps
 
 

The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust announced it would donate HK$175 million to create a biotechnology company, headed by Prof Nancy Ip, Director of the University's Biotechnology Research Institute (BRI).
   
 
Two Junior Math Camps were arranged by the Department of Mathematics and HKUST's Education Development Program from 5-6 and 8-9 August for senior primary students. The camps were the first organized and more than 70 pupils took part in the games and activities designed to arouse interest in mathematics.
