Senior representatives from the Croucher Foundation
 

Senior representatives from the Croucher Foundation were welcomed on campus by President Prof Paul Chu and toured research facilities on 28 March. The Croucher Foundation promotes the standard of natural sciences, technology and medicine in Hong Kong through awards and grants.

 

     
 
Austrian concept and media artist Hofstetter Kurt visited HKUST on 3 March to unveil his latest 'Time-Eye' installation at the University campus. The installation is part of an international arts project to create a sun clock.
   
 
AIDS pioneer Dr David Ho gave a talk on 'The Global AIDS Crisis and Its Threat to China' on 21 March. The talk drew hundreds of students, staff and faculty.

The University set in motion a management action plan on 25 March for prevention of Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), including a round-the-clock campus cleaning program, and after the 29 March suspension of classes, online lectures to enable students to keep learning.
