More than 1,000 students, staff, alumni, Court and Council members, families and friends took part in the University's first 'JUST Walk' sponsored walkathon and fun day on 20 October to raise funds to support HKUST's new student hostel. A total of HK$0.79 million was raised from the event.

 

  

The HKUST/WebEx Information Technology Institute - Signing Ceremony
 
 

An agreement was signed on 23 October to set up the HKUST/WebEx Information Technology Institute at the University. The Institute, created together with San Jose-based WebEx Communications, Incorporated, will help Hong Kong develop into Asia's web-service hub. Hong Kong's Chief Executive Mr Tung Chee Hwa attended the signing ceremony in San Francisco. The event was led by President Prof Paul Chu, with WebEx represented by President and Chief Technical Officer Mr Min Zhu.
